Marty Strasen joined St. Mary School in 2026, teaching 6th Grade ELA (and homeroom) along with Middle School Social Studies. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Mr. Strasen previously served as an adjunct professor of multimedia journalism at the University of South Florida and has lectured on content strategy and content design at San Jose State University.

Mr. Strasen has led teams across journalism, advertising, publishing, and content strategy while working for the likes of eBay, Wells Fargo, and Venmo, where coaching and mentoring became his favorite part of the work. His passion for teaching and Catholic education pointed him back to the classroom, where he’ll help St. Mary students become stronger readers, writers, critical thinkers, and communicators.

Mr. Strasen is originally from Chicago but grew up in Ontario, Canada. He spent the first part of his career as a sports writer and has authored several books, including a history of Notre Dame football. His other passions include running, hiking, golf, and spending time with family.
