Tom Brozene

Tom Brozene has been the band instructor at St. Mary School since 2007. As the creator of the program, Mr. Brozene developed it to its current levels of beginning, intermediate and advanced students. With more than 37 years of teaching experience in all aspects of music, he previously was the band director at most of the schools in Gilroy Unified School District and taught in other school districts including Palo Alto and Mountain View.

Mr. Brozene currently is performing with the South Valley Orchestra and South Bay Swing Band. A recording artist on more than 20 albums, he has performed with numerous orchestras over the past 40 years throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and nationwide such as The Adrian Davis Orchestra, The Johnny Lampson Orchestra, The Peter Minton Orchestra, The Twilight Orchestra, The Royal Society Jazz Orchestra, and many more.

Music is an art form, and Mr. Brozene firmly believes that all students should try playing in a band or singing in a choir and stick with it. “It has been proven that when students are exposed to music at an early age, it can improve the way they think and approach math, science and all other skills.”

Mr. Brozene has a Bachelor of Arts degree in music education and a Master of Arts degree in music performance from San Jose State University.
