St. Mary School After-School Sports Program (Grades 5–8)
At St. Mary School, we are proud to offer a vibrant and structured after-school sports program for students in Grades 5 through 8. This program provides students with the opportunity to develop athletic skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and school spirit in a safe and supportive environment.
All sports activities are led and supervised by dedicated volunteer coaches who are certified in safe-environment training and have completed fingerprint background checks, ensuring the highest standards of safety and care for our student-athletes.

St. Mary School participates in the Diocese of San Jose athletic league, competing against other Catholic schools throughout the region, from Gilroy to San Jose. Games and meets are scheduled after school hours, offering students meaningful opportunities to represent SMS and build connections with the broader Catholic school community.

Academic & Conduct Eligibility
To ensure that academics remain a top priority, students must maintain a minimum grade of “C” or better in Effort, Conduct, and Homework as reflected on their Progress Reports and Report Cards. Students who do not meet these standards may become ineligible to participate in the after-school sports program until improvement is demonstrated.
Our athletics program is designed not only to promote physical fitness but also to foster personal responsibility, leadership, and a commitment to excellence both on and off the field.
