Lisa Serna has called Gilroy home for the past 27 years, and she and her husband  have cherished being part of this wonderful community while raising three children, all of whom attended local schools. When their youngest daughter was in elementary school, she returned to complete my degree in Liberal Studies – Teacher Preparation at San Jose State University, graduating with honors in 2020.

After graduation, she accepted a position as a TK teacher at a local preschool. Over the course of four years, she had the privilege of teaching every age group from two to four years old. She’s now thrilled to be part of the staff at St. Mary’s, once again teaching TK.

Creating meaningful, faith-based lessons that resonate with children and inspire a lifelong love of learning has been deeply fulfilling. She strives to nurture not only the academic development of her students but also their hearts and spirits. Each day, she prays for her students and their families, asking God for the wisdom to guide them and to help them grow in every way—preparing them for kindergarten and beyond.
