Lourdes Morante-Mieses

Born in Lima, Peru, Lourdes Morante-Mieses has been making art since childhood. Since her move to California in 2000, she has been submerged in the art world working primarily with mixed media, painting and sculpture. Ms. Morante-Mieses has an associate of arts degree in studio art from Foothill College, and a bachelor’s degree in radio, TV, film and theater from San Jose State University. Having taught at Montalvo Arts Center in Saratoga, Circulo Cultural in Redwood City, The Forum in Sunnyvale, and Vintage Silver Creek in San Jose, among others, she also gives private art classes at her studio Mieses Art Studio in San Jose. For more than 3 years, Ms. Morante-Mieses worked as an art curator at Gallery 2905, Universal Media Access, in San Jose. She has exhibited her work in several art shows in the Bay Area and is a resident artist at KALEID Gallery in San Jose. Her works are in private collections in California, Barcelona and Peru. Ms. Morante-Mieses joined the St. Mary School teaching team in 2016 and believes that “through art, children have the opportunity to connect with their inner selves and freely express their feelings and ideas, turning abstraction into concrete reality. Art also enhances a child’s creative potential, which creates a path to an innovative and healthier present and future life. Art is a language that all people speak and that speaks to all people.”
